All that the dog knows of the world is what he feels inside his body.

Natural Dog Training is the theory and method developed over the last 30 years by Kevin Behan. It looks at dog behavior through the lens of emotional dynamics, seeking to help owners build a solid rapport based on the dog’s innate desire to cooperate as a team and working to heal trauma through somatic techniques.
By embracing and reconnecting with a dog’s wildness, we can help make them whole again, returning them to a state of true sociability.
The most loving way to raise and train a dog is to not expose them to situations their temperament has not yet evolved a capacity to handle.

Dogs don’t choose to ignore their owners: they are forced to because they have been trained to relate to their owners via their pack instincts. A pack instinct is designed to store stress, and to set overload thresholds, not to conduct drive in a calm manner. Through constantly being rebuffed when excited, the dog learns that he can’t be with his owner whenever he’s high in drive.
